Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and is nestled between the ocean and the hills. Adelaide has beautiful beaches, world-class vineyards, an abundance of quality food and wine and a laid back vibe.
Adelaide is a vibrant, original and cultured capital that offers a high standard of living in a Mediterranean climate. In 2005 Adelaide was voted as one of the world’s top five cities in which to live for lifestyle?

French mostly cold
I have found the French cold and unfriendly, bordering on rude. But there have been exceptions. It is a beautiful city, guess that's why so many appear arrogant. The system for immigration control at the airport appears racist on the surface as Americans, Europeans and British (mainly white) whiz through and the rest of the world, mainly coloured wait for hours.

French as People
The French people are great! Unlike their stereotype says them to be, they are more than helpful and kind. I lived in France for two years. As a nineteen year old American with no experience in the language I received much help "getting by" until I learned to speak. It is true that they may not love American politics, but they are warm to American people.

Parisians...are Rude afterall.
Went there in August with an open mind, left convinced that the French are just asses. The problem may be the city itself: it is so gorgeous that the French merely don't need or care, for every bad consumer/tourist experience, there are thousands waiting. Didn't even matter if you were fluent in French (as we were) or as un-American as you could attempt to be. The cafe food was attrocious - possibly the worst I have ever had - with one cook darting between three kitchens to dole out Redi-Whip deserts and naga-hyde rooster meat to tourist cafe after tourist cafe. Terrible surly service. And good luck trying to find a bathroom!
Double trouble if your need is more severe.
Tourist trap in every sense (Central Paris). Ettiquette and manners which would have them canned in this country. Surly, xeonophobic and cold. We'll see as the Euro plunges if they can sustain turning away who they choose even at empty restuarants. What a shame, and a disappointment. London is far more livlier and "real"!

Adelaide expenses.
City rating:
Agree with almost everything here about Adelaide, except the comment that Adelaide is not cheap. It may not be the cheapest city in the world but I have lived in different cities in different countries and compared to the others Adelaide is the cheapest. My experiences with public transport in Europe have always been by far more expensive than Adelaide but I haven't been everywhere. $29 AUD (~18 Euro) for a 10 trip ticket (that never expires) where each trip is valid for unlimited travel within 2 hours is cheap. $2.90 can take you over 100km in Adelaide, and if you travel between in the off peak period it costs significantly less. Alcohol in Adelaide, like in all of Australia, is not cheap but that's just tax.

Adelaide is in South Australia, not Massachusetts :) I tried to correct it, but I didn't have access.

Nice
City rating:
Adelaide has the biggest hardcore punk scene in Australia too. Bands like I Killed The Prom Queen, Enbodiment 12 14 and a heap of national and international acts have came from there. It may be small but most hardcore bands in Australia agree that Adelaide has the biggest straight edge scene by far lol
