It is also the seat of the Quito Metropolitan District, home to 2 million residents. Because of this physical beauty, its traditions, mystic corners, valuable legends, it is considered " Reliquary of the American Art". Because of this main characteristics, in November of 1978 was the first city in the world declared by UNESCO: Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
