Adelaide is in South Australia, not Massachusetts :) I tried to correct it, but I didn't have access.

Adelaide has the biggest hardcore punk scene in Australia too. Bands like I Killed The Prom Queen, Enbodiment 12 14 and a heap of national and international acts have came from there. It may be small but most hardcore bands in Australia agree that Adelaide has the biggest straight edge scene by far lol

Adelaide is one of only two capitals in Aust where you can sit on the beach and watch the sun set. Most great stuff is in the South, only go to the north if you are heading to the grape regions of the Barossa or Clare. Make sure that if you go there you have glazed almonds from Charleworths or Ditters, get chocolates from haighs, Hot chocolate from Bracegirdles at the bay, Kitchener bun from Wenzels(Real cream only) and wash it all down with a Farmers Union Ice Coffee. And if anyone asks what team you barrack for say the Power!!

The good points are mostly true, but..

It actually takes more like two hours to drive north-south from one end of the city to the other as most people live in houses, not flats. If you lived here you would definitely want to have a car to deal with the urban sprawl. Public transport is comfortable and air conditioned, but generally only connects suburbs to the city centre, which makes travelling from one part of the city to another time consuming. Adelaide is not cheap. Here are some prices in Australian dollars: coffee $4, multitrip (bus ticket valid for 10 uses) $29, a week's worth of groceries for a two person household approx $150. If you decide to live here, make sure your accommodation has air conditioning because we frequently get high temperatures. Eg now it's mid November (end of spring), and it is 39 degrees celsius all week. This makes great beach weather though, and the sun shines 98% of the time! The good things that the article mentions about the wine regions, the cultural events and the variety of restaurants are all true. Central market has the best quality produce, and the fruit & veg prices are usually cheaper than in supermarkets. China town has cheap restaurants with delicious food. Rundle St (city centre), The Parade (Norwood), Glenelg, Henley Square and Gouger St have a rich variety of cafes and restaurants and a vibrant night life.

Agree with almost everything here about Adelaide, except the comment that Adelaide is not cheap. It may not be the cheapest city in the world but I have lived in different cities in different countries and compared to the others Adelaide is the cheapest. My experiences with public transport in Europe have always been by far more expensive than Adelaide but I haven't been everywhere. $29 AUD (~18 Euro) for a 10 trip ticket (that never expires) where each trip is valid for unlimited travel within 2 hours is cheap. $2.90 can take you over 100km in Adelaide, and if you travel between in the off peak period it costs significantly less. Alcohol in Adelaide, like in all of Australia, is not cheap but that's just tax.
